Opposition Member of Parliament Calls for Assistance to help Montserrat Build Resistance Against Climate Events

An opposition member of parliament here is calling on the Caribbean Disaster emergency Management Agency (CDEMA), and the British government, in particular to do more to help Montserrat to build resistance against any climate related eventuality.

Honourable Nyota Mulcare, who once worked with the Disaster Management Coordination Agency (DMCA), says that in the absence of a disaster fund, Montserrat can do with building more capacity to help mitigate the threat of any unforeseen emergency or disaster.

She reflects on the damage caused by the recent flooding emphasizing that it should serve as an eye-opener for what is needed to lessen the impact of any weather phenomenon, among others.
